Historic Flood Maps are digital (raster) images of Flood Hazard Boundary Maps (FHBMs) and Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) which are no longer the most recently issued version. This category includes all versions of a community’s flood maps except the most recently issued maps. It consists of both maps that are no longer effective, and current effective flood maps for which a newer map has been issued but is not yet effective. Please note that these maps may no longer be the official, effective flood maps. Certain historic images are not available for FIRMette creation. Maps that are no longer effective are not for use in determining properties subject to the mandatory insurance purchase requirement, as they have been superseded by a new FHBM or FIRM. They are useful for insurance rating purposes. (For more information on insurance rating, see 44 CFR, Part 61)
